Draft proposal to guidelines for an
European Roma Commission on Religion and Diaconia
The aim of the Commission is to within the work of the European Roma Forum. support and strengthen our people'
s religious and spirituallife following the guidelines given below:

Our belief is that Gods love, as it works as a living power among people, can empower persons and societies
for a development towards freedom and justice

God, our Creator and Saviour who gives us life, wants in his creation a society built on
equal rights and responsibilities for all individuals.

Human rights - political, social, religious,
cultural and economic - are equal for all.
.
As partners with God, we are asked to work for a society and lifestyles built on democracy, social
and economic justice, culturaI diversity, freedom of religion, gender equality and long-term sustainability.
The Commission will:

With the perspectives, drawn from them with less power and silent voices, work for their political participation
and empowerment
.
Work for the c10sing ofthe widening economic gap, for solving conflicts between persons, groups and nations with peaceful
means and for a well-fare based on ecological and social sustainable development
.
Form a just society that cares for each persons needs and each persons potential to contribute to the common
good
.
Empower the people and society to search and abide by a lifestyle that opposes drogs, criminal acts, abuses towards others
and that promotes public health and personal development and well-being
The Commission will in its contacts with churches, other religious groups and others:

Work to strengthen Roma identity, to protect and support Roma culture and to oppose racism in all form and
antiziganism/antigypsism against Roma
.
On an international'level promote cooperation and contacts between Roma, with other groups in the societies and with official
representatives that take care of contacts with Roma.
